Nearly $90,000 of scholarships awarded to Plant, Soil and Microbial Science Students.

During the recent 2015 College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Honors Banquet, nearly $90,000 in scholarships were awarded to students in undergraduate studies programs in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences.

During the 2015 Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Honors Banquet,  nearly $90,000 in scholarships was awarded to students in undergraduate studies programs in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences.   Fourteen students shared scholarships totaling $24,500 from the Crop and Soil Science Scholarship Fund.   Michigan Crop Improvement provided ten students with scholarships totaling $15,000.  Similarly, the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee awarded  PSM four students a total of $9,000 as scholarships. 

 

Two students shared scholarships awards totaling $4,000 from the L. S. Robertson Soil and Water Conservation Endowed Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded to students whose studies and career path emphasize soil and/or water conservation and related fields.   

 

The Leyton V. Nelson Endowed Scholarship was awarded to two PSM students for a total of $4,000.  This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and scholarship. 

 

Two incoming freshmen were awarded the Robert Lucas Scholarship, for a total of $6,000 in recognition of their interest in extension work.

 

One lucky student was awarded $1,500, from The Roy Greenia Scholarship for $1,500,   was presented  by Jared Greenia,  a member of the donor’s family to a student interested in seed science.

 

The Greenlawn scholarship presented $2,000 to a PSM student demonstrating interest in turfgrass management. 

 

The Stefanie Fiala Ehrmann Expendable Scholarship,  $22,000 was shared by two PSM students who have demonstrated interest in soil science/soil conservation.
