Sports and Commercial Turf Mgt

 

The turfgrass industry has a multitude of interesting and exciting career opportunities. This program is offered to people interested in specializing in a career in the sports or commercial turf management area. This integrated program emphasizes the science and art of turf management. Additional areas of skills include landscape, mechanical, and business. The core of the learning experience is the placement training received on-the-job with pay. A certificate is granted at the completion of the program requirements.

    • AT 291 Selected Topics in Agricultural Technology - 2 credits
    • AT 293 Professional Internship in Agricultural Technology - 3 to 6 credits
    • CSS 110 Computer Applications in Agronomy - 2 credits
    • CSS 178 Turfgrass Irrigation - 3 credits
    • CSS 181 Pesticide and Fertilizer Application Technology - 3 credits
    • CSS 210 Fundamentals of Soil Science - 3 credits
    • CSS 232 Turfgrass Management - 4 credits
    • CSS 262 Turfgrass Management Seminar - 2 credits
    • CSS 267 Performance Turf Design and Construction - 2 credits
    • CSS 269 Turfgrass Strategies: Integration and Synthesis - 2 credits
    • CSS 272 Turfgrass Soil Fertility - 2 credits
    • CSS 292 Management of Turfgrass Weeds - 3 credits
    • CSS 382 Turfgrass Physiology - 2 credits
    • ENT 364 Turfgrass Entomology - 3 credits
    • HRT 109 Introduction to Applied Plant Science - 2 credits
    • HRT 213 Landscape Maintenance - 2 credits

Students who do not demonstrate English proficiency through the IAT placement test or college-level transfer credit must complete AT 045 Agricultural Communications (2 credits) or an equivalent course.
